Heart, soul, and 27 years of fighting for kids.

Just a glimpse into what personally drives us to make things right for you and your child.

We're parents of kids with disabilities, and we'll fight for your child as if they were our own.

As a parent, all you want is for your child to be happy and reach their potential. To learn to read, write and do math. To finish homework. To behave. To have friends and feel accepted.

Yet if you're reading this, things probably aren't great. You're lost, confused, and scared to death that your child is going to fail in school. It doesn't have to be this way.

You have a lot of power over your child's education. We want you to walk into an IEP meeting confident, with your shoulders back, look everyone in the eye, and demand the respect you deserve.

And walk out feeling triumphant, saying: "Yes! We did it!"

Pam Lindemann, Founder and President of The IEP Advocate
Our story — it's personal

How a marketing agency owner became Florida's first IEP advocate.

Pam Lindemann owned a marketing agency in Orlando, Florida, and never imagined she'd spend her life fighting for children's right to an education. Then her daughter was born with cerebral palsy.

Pam knew that if her daughter was going to have the best shot in life, she had to learn everything she could about special education. She attended every workshop, seminar and training she could find. Soon she was helping other parents get IEPs for their children too.

In 2003, the Governor of Florida appointed Pam to a state policy board for early intervention and education, where she became the voice of parents at the state level. In 2009, she founded The IEP Advocate, the first-ever organization of IEP advocates in Florida, and to this day she personally selects and trains every advocate who joins her team.

Why families choose us

The school will finally take you seriously.

Because they know we know our stuff, and because we don't give up.

🎓

We know your rights cold

We understand your child's educational rights inside out, and schools have come to respect us for it. Parents tell us meetings go far better and much more gets done when we're at the table.

💪

We don't quit

If the school says "no" and we don't agree, we find another way. There's always a Plan B, C or D, and we don't stop until we've exhausted every option to get your child the support they need.

💜

It's our life's purpose

Almost every one of our team members has a child with special needs. For us it isn't a job, it's a calling: helping children thrive, and helping parents finally sleep peacefully at night.

In Pam's own words

The Advocate's Prayer

Put the right thoughts in my heart, the right words on my tongue. Remind me that I am just a vessel, Lord, to carry your word to others. Let me be strong for this child and this family. When it seems difficult to voice opposition or to be firm in a request, help me not to waiver. Help me be silent when I need to. Help me to apologize when I've been wrong. Remind me that I am not in control… You are.

Help me to remember that every person at this meeting was made by You and is loved by You. Each team member has value and worth. I pray for each school member, Lord. Instead of being an obstacle, remind them of why they became an educator, therapist or administrator in the first place. Rekindle in them a helpful heart and the courage to make the right decisions today.

While listening to what is happening in the meeting, let me be attentive to your whisper. Let me feel the peace that comes from knowing you are in control. Let me be a reflection of your love and understanding, and use me, Lord, for your glory. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
